My Kangoo Jumps Tips.

Big butch springs

If you are slightly on the heavier side or really want a good work out from your Kangoo Jumps then get the KJ5-Pro 2 model and get the additional big butch steel coil springs to fasten to the boot. This gives you a lot more bounciness (is that a word) and gives you a good workout to.

Since having these fitted I have really noticed a difference and get a much better workout.

Buy a Kangoo “Jog belt”.

When I go out Kangooing, I also wear this handy Kangoo Jumps Jog belt. .As mentioned on the FAQs page, the life of the shells is not indefinate and so this handy little belt lets you store a spare shell and has a pouch. In mine I keep some little leaflets about Kangoo Jumps (for anyone who ask questions), a spare rubber that attaches the grip to the shells, an allen key and a small screwdriver. (I keep my house key in there as well).

The handy thing is that should I go for a run and get a “puncture” (a shell breakage) then I can replace the shell on the spot and continue running home. I have done this a couple of times and the belt has proven to be very beneficial.

My own personal habits.

Since owning a pair of Kangoo Jumps I have come across a few quirks that helps me to get the most out of them. Please bare in mind that these are my own little ideas and they are not endorsed by the folks by Kangoo Jumps in any way. So if an Alligator chases you or Aliens kidnap you it isn’t their fault ... or mine either as we don’t get many alligators and aliens in the UK.

Bubblewrap.

I have monster wide feet (size 13-14 UK size) and so the fact that they fit comfortably into my Kangoo Jumps is pretty amazing - especially when I find it hard to buy shoes wide enough to fit me. On my right foot though, the boot can rub against my shin and after about 6 miles or so of continuous running, rub the skin off. The cure! Simply stick a small piece of bubble wrap inside your sock where the rubbing occurs and bingo. No more blisters.

Segs (Blakeys).

When I run I seem put my right leg down quite heavily and must scuff it slightly on the ground as I wear out the sole plates (the tread that attaches to the bottom of the Kangoo boot) quite quickly. Luckily you can buy new parts for Kangoo Jumps and so replacing them is no bother. A method I have found to make them last longer though (bearing in mind that I probably wear them out faster due to the way I run and because I nearly always run on concrete) is to attach metal segs to the back of my sole plates. True, I sound like Robocop charging along but they do prolong the life of the sole plate. Please note though, and this bit is important, they must be the tiny sort and be fitted right at the back of the sole plate. If they are to far forward, they can possibly cause you to loose grip and slip.

Squeak.

Kangoo jumps can have a squeak to them or “saddle creak” as it is known. One trick I have found is after a few hundred miles to either swap over the inner soles underneath the fabric boot or indeed unbolt the bottom shells and switch them round the other way. Having said that it doesn’t keep mine silent for long though, I’m just used to sounding like Roboduck now, what with the squeak and the segs. That said, my second pair of Kangoo Jumps, my KJ Pro 2 boots, seem to be a lot quieter.
