Designed by Accelerated Composites, California (USA), the “Aptera hybrid” started development in January 2006. The company state that this will be a 330 mpg vehicle that uses a diesel 12 hp engine combined with a 25 hp electric motor. With a planned weight of 850lbs the two-seater coupe is estimated to have a 0 - 60 mph time of 11 seconds with a top speed, electronically limited at 95 mph. Fuel consumption is estimated to be 330 mpg at 65 Mph.
