3-Wheelers.com Reliant Scale Model History

The History of the Model: 1. The first Ideas

The idea for the models sprang to life in August 2000 after buying a couple of Lledo Vanguard Reliant models. (AA Patrol and Post Office).  I created a very crude attempt of creating a model by cloning the 3-wheelers.com logo on to the Vanguard model.  After I approached Lledo / Corgi Classics who informed me that 1,000 models was the minimum order, I then placed my picture on show in the site and potential sponsors were asked to come forward to help fund the project. At this stage I still was not sure as to what colour the model would be.

By November 2001 I had received a couple of e-mails enquiring about the models but sadly nothing became of them.  So whilst revamping the model section of this site I took my photo of the green Nottingham water Vanguard model and colorised it so that it was blue.  I decided I would choose blue as Lledo (at this point in time) did not have any blue Reliant models.  After changing the colour of the vehicle I added the 3-wheelers.com logo and decided that if a sponsor came forward that I would add their name to the front doors of the model.  Unfortunately there was still no real interest from sponsors.
