	Help with database filters

All 3-wheeler entries in the A-Z database can be filtered so that various types of searches can be performed, this means you can generate searches more suited to what information you require. (ie: Show me all 3-wheelers built in the UK between 1950 and 1990 that have two wheels at the front).

When you create a filter the “Comparison Value” field in some instances has a set combination of values that are allowed. These can be viewed here.


	From the main A-Z database, select the “Filters” button.


	This leads to the main filter page and by default will show three main blocks of filter boxes.

Decide on the search you want, in this case I will take the example at the top of the page, that is: Show me all 3-wheelers built in the UK between 1950 and 1990 that have two wheels at the front)

When I create a filter the “Comparison Operator” will give me predefined values to select and for each row you should select “and or or” from the left hand column.

My filters would look like this:

	Filtered Field	Comparison Operator	Comparison Value
	Country	Equal to	United Kingdom
And	From	Greater than or equal to	1950
And	To	Less than or equal to	1990
And	Wheel Configuration	Equal to	2F1R

Note that I do not choose a year equal to 1950 as that would only show records where a manufacturer was founded in that particular year. Instead select a value of greater than or equal to 1950.

I then press the “Apply Filters” button below the filters box and my search results specfic to my request are shown.


	If required I can change the filter by selecting an “Or” filter rather than an “And” filter. For example to the query above we could add to it by also asking, “In addition show me manufacturers who are still making 3-wheelers in the UK with two wheels at the front.

	Press “Apply Filters” for the results. To clear a set of filters hit the “Reset Filters” button on the main database page.
